Stein and van der Veen discussed some current issues with the criminal justice system in Philadelphia and throughout the country as well as their personal experiences with these issues.
Van der Veen handles both civil litigation and criminal defense.
He also represents companies in cases related to government regulation and corporate litigation.
Van der Veen is active in several organizations in the legal field and in his community.
He serves on the board of directors of the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association and on the board of governors of the Philadelphia Bar Association.
He is past chairman of the board of the Philadelphia chapter of the American Diabetes Association and also served on the boards of the YMCA and the Montgomery School.
In addition to his leadership positions, van der Veen is also a member of the American Bar Association and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
He earned his Juris Doctor from Quinnipiac School of Law in 1988 and his LL.M. in trial advocacy from Temple University Beasley School of Law in 1995.
He is admitted to practice in Illinois as well as Pennsylvania.
